About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from Settesoli’s estate vineyards on the hills of the Menfi commune in southwestern Sicily.

Vinification

The must ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 22–25 °C.

Ageing

The wine matures for three months in stainless-steel vats, followed by three months in bottle.

Tasting profile

The wine has a light, summery character.

Vintage notes

In 2020, low yields in Menfi left the vines with sufficient energy for a generous 2021 crop. The 2021 growing season started slightly earlier than usual, and the harvest began about one week early. Several very hot summer days were tempered by rainfall in July and August. Otherwise relatively dry conditions helped keep the grapes healthy.

Label / history

“Rondone” derives from the Italian word “rondine”, meaning “swallow”, and refers to the wine’s light, summery character.
