About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie around Cladrecis, a small hillside village in the Judrio Valley on the Slovenian border, within the municipality of Prepotto at 314 metres above sea level. The vines grow in Eocene marl and sandstone soils. Centuries-old forests surround the site, whose cool microclimate brings significant temperature shifts. Pierpaolo and Luca Sirch began the project by preserving and restoring old vineyards here.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in the third week of September, then destemmed and gently pressed. The must is settled at low temperature before fermenting in oak barrels.
Ageing
The wine remains in the same oak barrels on its fine lees for 10 months, with frequent stirring. After bottling, it rests in the cellar before release.
Tasting profile
Expressive, with pleasant freshness.
Label / history
The Cladrecis range takes its name from the village where the wines are made. Formerly also known as Canale dello Judrio, Cladrecis has had its own Statute since 24 February 1318, and its history has been shaped by the meeting of different borders.
