About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from several vineyards in San Michele-Appiano and the surrounding area, at elevations of 400–550 metres. The sites face south, southeast and southwest, and have gravelly, limestone-bearing soils. The vines are 8–26 years old. Careful vineyard work and very low yields are employed.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in late September and early October, then carefully sorted at the winery. A three-day cold maceration with punch-downs precedes fermentation in stainless-steel tanks. The wine subsequently undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine initially matures in barriques. After one year, the final blend is assembled and transferred to concrete vats for a further 10 months, followed by approximately another year in bottle before release.

Elegant and deeply sensual, with structure, balance and fine tannins.
Label / history
Pinot Noir has been cultivated in Alto Adige since 1850 and is locally known as Blauburgunder. This wine has formed part of the “Sanct Valentin” range since 1995.
