About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from vineyards around Lake Monticolo and neighbouring microzones, where porphyry soils shape the wine's character. The vines are 5 to 20 years old and grow at 480–700 m above sea level, facing south and southeast. The climate is cool and sunny, which Riesling prefers.

Vinification

The grapes are picked by hand in late September and early October and carefully sorted by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks.

Ageing

The wine rests for 5 months on the lees.

Tasting profile

Fruity aromas and mineral freshness. The wine is fresh.

Label / history

"Fallwind" is a collection of wines from selected vineyards. It takes its name from the wind that blows across the whole San Michele Appiano estate. The text says this wind gives the wines their aromatic character, freshness and ageing potential.
