About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from south- to southwest-facing vineyards at 70–130 m a.s.l. at Loc. Montebottigli, in the municipality of Grosseto. Soils are predominantly sandstone and limestone. The 21-year-old vines are spur-cordon trained at 6,600 plants per hectare.

Grapes

50% Sangiovese and 50% Syrah.

Vinification

The Syrah was picked by hand from 27 August 2025 and the Sangiovese from 4 September. Skin contact is deliberately brief: one hour for Syrah and two hours for Sangiovese. Fermentation takes place at a low temperature of 14–16°C.

Ageing

The wine remains on its lees in stainless-steel tanks for four months.

Technical data

The 2025 has 12.52% alcohol and total acidity of 5.18 g/L. It was bottled in March 2026 and released in April. Production is 24,000 bottles, in 750 ml and 1.5 L formats.

Tasting profile

Intense and fresh, with cherry-blossom aromas. The palate is rich, smooth and versatile, with a mineral character and a pleasantly persistent finish.

Serving and pairing

Pair with antipasti, pasta and other first courses with red sauces, pizza, fish, steamed vegetables, cured meats and cheeses.

Vintage notes

Early budbreak and flowering in 2025 were followed by regular growth supported by abundant spring rainfall. Heatwaves at the end of June and around mid-August preceded 95 mm of rain late in August, helping the vines recover and the red varieties achieve aromatic and phenolic balance.

Label / history

First produced in 2007, the wine is conceived as a marriage of Sangiovese and Syrah.
