About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Tirrenico comes from the Belguardo vineyards facing the Tyrrhenian Sea and benefiting from its breezes. The 2024 vineyards at Loc. Montebottigli, Grosseto, lie between 70 and 130 m a.s.l. with south–southwest exposure. The sandy soils contain pebbles created mainly by the weathering of sandstone. Vines are 20–25 years old, spur-cordon trained and planted at 6,600 vines per hectare.

Grapes

Blend proportions vary by vintage. Latest published vintage (2024): 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Alicante (Grenache).

Technical data

The 2024 has 13.00% alcohol and total acidity of 5.67%. Production was 40,000 bottles in 750 ml, 1.5 L and 3 L formats. The first vintage was 2014, and the stated ageing potential is at least ten years.

Label / history

The name refers to Tyrrhenus, portrayed as the charismatic and intrepid prince of the Tyrrhenoi who led his people into central Italy, founded Etruscan civilisation and introduced wine culture. The wine draws its identity from this figure and from vineyards overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.
