About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Ciliegiolo grows in west-facing vineyards at 100 m a.s.l. in Montebottigli, in the municipality of Grosseto. The medium-textured sandy soil contains numerous pebbles formed through sandstone disintegration. The 17-year-old vines are Guyot trained at 5,500 plants per hectare.
Grapes
100% Ciliegiolo, an indigenous variety with a long history in Maremma. Its name refers both to the berry’s colour and to its characteristic cherry-like aroma.
Vinification
The 2025 fruit was harvested by hand from 20 August. Fermentation proceeds at 26°C, with 12 days of maceration in concrete tanks.
Technical data
The 2025 has 12.85% alcohol and total acidity of 4.59 g/L. It was bottled in April 2026 for release in May 2026. Production is 15,000 bottles in 750 ml format, packed six bottles per cardboard case.
Tasting profile
An intense, immediate red with marasca-cherry and Mediterranean-scrub aromas. It combines lively freshness and easy drinkability with a full, enveloping structure and notable depth.
Vintage notes
Early budbreak and flowering in 2025 were followed by steady vegetative growth sustained by plentiful spring rainfall. Heatwaves at the end of June and around mid-August were followed by 95 mm of late-August rain, helping the vines recover. The red grapes completed ripening with abundant aroma and balanced phenolics.
Label / history
The inaugural vintage was 2023.
