About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Mandriolo Rosso comes from the Poggetti Estate at Massa Marittima. The south-west-facing vineyards stand on slightly acidic clay soils rich in fossils. The estate lies among the Metalliferous Hills about 7 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea, with warm days, sustained sunshine and cool evenings during the growing season. Its soils are also characterized as dynamic and mineral-rich.
Grapes
80% Sangiovese, with the remaining 20% composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot.
Vinification
Harvest takes place during the second and third weeks of September. Fermentation proceeds in temperature-controlled cement tanks. Pumping over is performed twice daily during a 15-day maceration.
Ageing
After bottling, the wine rests for three months before release.
