About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Rosamundi comes from the Poggetti Estate at Massa Marittima. The south-west-facing vineyards grow on rich, slightly acidic clay soil. The estate lies in the Metalliferous Hills about 7 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea, where hot days, long sun exposure and cool evenings influence the growing season. The broader estate soils are also characterized as dynamic and mineral-rich.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
Sangiovese is harvested in the second week of September. The wine is vinified in the manner of a white wine, without skin contact: the skins are immediately separated from the must through gentle pressing. Fermentation lasts approximately 21 days in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Dry ice is used to prevent contact with air and preserve the bouquet and pink color. The published fermentation temperature is 64°C.
Ageing
Following the first racking, the wine remains on its lees for up to 15 days before bottling.
