About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The wine takes its name from the 6.38-hectare vineyard from which it originates, in Castelnuovo Berardenga. Its identity is conceived as an expression of this individual site and its Tuscan setting.

Grapes

90% Sangiovese, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot.

Ageing

The varieties are matured separately for 18 months. Sangiovese ages in 10–20 hl French-oak casks, while Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot mature in barriques. The assembled wine receives a further six months in bottle.

Technical data

Alcohol: 14% vol. Available formats: 0.75 L and 1.5 L.

Tasting profile

A refined purple colour introduces a complex bouquet of pungent spices, dark forest berries, ginger peel and orange zest. Dense tannins are balanced by pronounced freshness, shaping a rich, sweetly spiced palate. Black pepper and bitter Madagascar cocoa carry the generous finish. The current shop description also emphasizes dark cherry, liquorice and persistent black-fruit flavours.

Serving and pairing

Serve at approximately 18 °C. Pair with richly flavoured meat dishes such as roast kid, Florentine-style beef brisket and mixed grills. Its freshness and fruit are intended to remain enjoyable over a period measured in decades.

Label / history

The name “6.38” records the surface area of the vineyard of origin and underscores the relationship between the wine and its site.
