About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyard is located in the municipality of San Giovanni al Natisone, on marl and clay soils. Planting density is 6,000 vines per hectare. The vines are trained using Guyot and Cappuccina systems.
Grapes
100% Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso.
Vinification
The grapes are mechanically harvested and gently destemmed. Fermentation proceeds on the skins for 18 days at a controlled temperature of 23°C.
Ageing
The wine matures for eight months in stainless steel tanks maintained at 16°C. After bottling, it undergoes further bottle ageing before release.
Tasting profile
Deep ruby red in colour, with an aroma of wild strawberries. The palate is savoury, persistent and pleasant. The wine is youthful, vinous, fragrant and full-bodied.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16°C. Pair with cured meats and cheeses, braised meats and stews. Ageing potential is 3–4 years.
