About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on the hills of the Maremma microzone, in vineyards with mainly sandy soils. The vines are between 4 and 14 years old.
Grapes
Sangiovese is supplemented by small proportions of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness: Merlot in the first week of September, Sangiovese in the last week of September and Cabernet Sauvignon in the first week of October. Selection takes place twice—first in the vineyard and then by hand on a sorting table. After gentle crushing, the grapes ferment in stainless-steel vats at a controlled temperature of 28–30 °C. Maceration lasts 10 days, and malolactic fermentation takes place in steel vats.
Ageing
The wine matures in 225 L barriques for 10–12 months, followed by 3–5 months in steel tanks.
