Vineyard and terroir

The grapes grow near the village of Cartizze in the province of Treviso. The area has an especially mild microclimate and a distinctive soil composition, which allow the fruit to ripen unusually slowly.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand in the first week of September. After careful bunch selection, they are destemmed and gently pressed. The must ferments in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature. A second fermentation takes place in a pressurized tank according to the Italian Charmat method.

Ageing

The wine spends a short period on the lees after its second fermentation.

Tasting profile

Residual sugar and a distinctive spicy note provide structure and roundness while preserving the grapes’ natural freshness.

Vintage notes

The 2019 growing season in Veneto began with a cool, rainy spring, particularly in April and May, when temperatures were the lowest recorded for that period in 30 years. A very hot summer followed, with temperatures reaching 38 °C in late June and July, while downpours and hail occurred in July and August. Temperatures returned to normal only in early August. The harvest finished one week later than in 2018, and many grape varieties displayed bright fruit aromas and excellent acidity.
