Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie on south- and southwest-facing slopes with gradients of 25–40°, at 700–900 metres above sea level. Mineral-rich soils, considerable altitude and a cold Alpine climate contribute to intense aromas and flavours and lively fruit acidity. Ripening continues well into autumn.
Vinification
The grapes are fermented in stainless-steel tanks at approximately 20 °C.
Ageing
The wine remains on its lees for six months in the same stainless-steel tanks.
Tasting profile
The 2014 is elegant, with a delicate floral aroma and notable freshness.
Label / history
Monks at Novacella Abbey began making wine in the 12th century. The northern vineyards were replanted with white varieties from 1902, with Müller-Thurgau introduced after Silvaner, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Grigio. The wine is made at the monastery winery.
