Vineyard and terroir
Sor Ugo comes from vineyards in Bolgheri, within Castagneto Carducci. The wine page places them at 80 m above sea level, while the technical sheet gives a range of 80–100 m. The soils consist of sand, clay and limestone, and the vines are spur-pruned cordon trained.
Grapes
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Vinification
Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless-steel tanks. The wine page gives a total duration of 30 days, whereas the technical sheet specifies 28 days.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in barrique. The technical sheet identifies the wood as French oak. Six months of bottle ageing follow.
