Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in the Marano Valley on stone terraces known as “marogne,” at almost 500 metres above sea level. The vines are trained using the traditional Veronese pergola system. The altitude allows the grapes to ripen slowly.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September. Selected bunches are transferred to a drying room, or “fruttaio,” for appassimento, which concentrates their sugars, structure and aromas. At the beginning of the following year, the dried grapes are gently pressed and undergo a long, slow fermentation in contact with the skins.
Ageing
The wine matures in large oak casks.
Tasting profile
The wine is balanced and powerful, with fullness and a noble character.
