Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from several Nebbiolo vineyards spanning the Ronchi and Ovello areas of Barbaresco and Montersino in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, Alba. The sites face south-east, south-west and south. The south-east- and south-west-facing vineyards lie at 250 m, while the south-facing vineyards reach 310 m. Vine age ranges from 20 to 70 years.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

Fermentation and maceration take place in a conical oak vat under a submerged cap. Skin contact lasts approximately 45–55 days, a long, traditional Langa vinification that contributes to the wine’s rich yet approachable character.

Ageing

The wine matures for approximately 20 months in a single 20 hl cask made from German and Austrian oak, followed by approximately nine months of refinement in bottle.

Technical data

Annual production is approximately 2,000 bottles of 750 ml, 220 magnums of 1.5 L and 30 double magnums of 3 L.

Tasting profile

Traditional in style, rich and pleasant.

Label / history

First produced in the 2013 vintage, Angelo was created in memory of Angelo Rocca. It brings together Nebbiolo from three Barbaresco crus shaped by his work and ideas, reflecting his passion for Nebbiolo and his pursuit of purity and elegance in Barbaresco.
