Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the Montersino geographic mention in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, a hamlet of Alba. This is the highest vineyard held by the family. Its south-west-facing vines were planted in 1999 on ancient marly soils dominated by limestone and sand.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The Nebbiolo from Montersino was vinified separately for the first time with the 2012 harvest, allowing the individual character of this site to be expressed as a distinct Barbaresco.
Ageing
The wine matures for about 20 months in oak casks, followed by a few months of refinement in bottle.
Label / history
The decision to bottle Montersino separately was made to explore the full potential of Barbaresco from this distinctive, elevated site with particularly ancient calcareous and sandy soils.
