Label / history
The first vintage was 1997. The wine is made by Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari, a holding company founded in 2000 when Ambrogio separated from Ruffino and set it up with his son. The family's winemaking history begins in the late 18th century with Fratelli Folonari. In 1912 Ambrogio's grandfather, Italo Folonari, and his brother Francesco bought the Tuscan company Ruffino. In the late 1960s the family sold Fratelli Folonari, which mainly produced table wines, and turned to estate-bottled wines. The holding company's estates include Tenuta La Fuga, Tenuta di Nozzole, Tenute del Cabreo, Conti Spalletti, Ronco dei Folo, Tenuta Campo al Mare, Tenuta TorCalvano Gracciano (Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Rosso di Montepulciano) and Tenuta Vigne a Porrona.
