Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyard occupies a west-facing hillside at 350 m a.s.l. and is trained to Guyot. The Trebbiano Spoletino comes from a massal selection of the finest old vines traditionally grown between maple trees. The variety is associated with the territory extending between Trevi, Montefalco and Spoleto.
Grapes
100% Trebbiano Spoletino.
Vinification
The hand-picked grapes undergo skin-contact maceration, gentle pressing and static cold clarification. Fermentation takes place in large oak barrels.
Ageing
The wine remains on its lees for six months before further ageing in bottle.
Technical data
The 2023 vintage has 13% alcohol. Available as a 750 mL bottle and a 1.5 L magnum presented in a wooden case. Contains sulfites.
Tasting profile
The colour is an intense straw yellow shading toward gold. The intense, persistent bouquet combines almond and hawthorn blossom with citrus and tropical fruit, followed by a lightly spicy finish. Structured and savoury on the palate, it has the pronounced acidity characteristic of Trebbiano Spoletino, balanced by the wine's other components. The finish is persistent, with close correspondence between aroma and flavour.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 14°C. Pair with prosciutto, culatello, terrines or carpaccio; fish-based first courses; spaghetti carbonara; saffron risotto; substantial fish stews; rare English-style roast beef; or aged semi-hard cheeses.
Vintage notes
The 2023 season began with a relatively cool, rainy spring and early summer, delaying veraison by approximately three weeks. The remainder of summer was regularly warm, with marked differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures. Ripening was optimal but later than usual.
Label / history
The first vintage was 2007.
