Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyard lies on a west-facing hillside at approximately 350 m a.s.l. and is trained to Guyot. The vines derive from a massal selection of old Trebbiano Spoletino plants traditionally trained between maple trees. The variety was once widespread between Montefalco, Spoleto and Trevi before falling into relative obscurity.
Grapes
100% Trebbiano Spoletino.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, usually during the second half of October. Fermentation begins spontaneously in ceramic vessels, without temperature control, and proceeds with extended skin contact.
Ageing
After the wine is separated from its skins, it remains in amphorae for several months.
Technical data
The 2022 vintage has 12.5% alcohol and is bottled in a 750 mL format. Contains sulfites.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 14°C.
Vintage notes
The 2022 season had a cool, rainy spring and early summer. The remainder of summer was not excessively hot and brought pronounced differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures. Early autumn was rainy, and optimal ripening finished later than usual.
Label / history
First produced in 2013, Vigna Tonda explores Trebbiano Spoletino through spontaneous fermentation, prolonged skin contact, and maturation in clay and ceramic amphorae. This approach emphasizes the variety's versatility and its capacity to produce ageworthy white wine.
