Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from vineyards in Contrada Macchia dei Goti at Taurasi. The hilly site lies at 350 m, faces south-west, and has clayey-calcareous soil. The technical sheet specifies 5,000 vines/ha and a yield of 50 q/ha, or 1 kg per vine. Training is espalier with Guyot pruning.

Grapes

100% Aglianico di Taurasi.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested manually at full ripeness from the end of October to the beginning of November. Following destemming and crushing, they undergo fermentation with maceration. The must ferments in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperature, followed by malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

The technical sheet specifies 18 months in French-oak barriques and a further 12 months in bottle. The product page gives a broader barrique-ageing period of 12–18 months.

Technical data

Alcohol: 14.5%. Acidity: 6.0–6.4 g/L.

Tasting profile

Deep ruby red. The bouquet is fruity, complex and structured, combining red and dark forest fruit with liquorice and vanilla.
