Vineyard and terroir

The grapes grow in Monteriggioni at around 400 m above sea level, on limestone soils. The vines are 20–25 years old. The estate's vineyards, in the northern part of the province of Siena, are known for distinctive sedimentary soils composed mainly of calcium carbonate.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled 16–18 °C.

Ageing

The wine ages in stainless steel for several months before bottling.

Tasting profile

Elegant and fresh.

Vintage notes

2021: The winter in Tuscany brought moderate temperatures and average rainfall. Budbreak came in the last week of March, followed by a sudden return of cold that slowed vine growth. May and June were hot and dry, which let the vines catch up. Ripening was slow and even, and the harvest began in the second week of September.

Label / history

The wine is named after Bindo Bindi, governor of Orvieto in 1400. It comes from Tenuta I Colli, owned by Bindi Sergardi, in the villages of Monteriggioni and Vagliagli in the northern part of the province of Siena. The estate was built in the late 1400s and reflects 23 generations of the Bindi Sergardi family. Bishop Sergardi received the delegation of Emperor Charles V there to negotiate a peaceful settlement for the city of Siena.
