Storia
Early 19th century\nThe Boccadigabia estate was one of 100 farms within administrative holdings that supplied the imperial court of Napoleon Bonaparte. Grape varieties that have since disappeared were grown here, and their wines were served at the royal table. Like other buildings of its kind, the estate house was faced with ceramic tiles, and its façade is still decorated with a letter “N” topped by an imperial crown.\n\n### Until 1950\nThe winery remained in the hands of Napoleon's descendants until 1950.\n\n### From late 1986\nTraditional French varieties—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir—were planted in the Castellette di Fiastra vineyards. The vines are now mature enough to produce generous, vivid wines with plenty of character.\n\n### Today\nThe estate is owned by Elvio Alessandri, who works alongside his son Lorenzo, winemaker Francesco Pennesi, and agronomist Luca Severini. Boccadigabia combines traditional practices with modern technology, producing wines under two brands—Boccadigabia and Villamagna—from grapes grown on two separate estates.
Terroir
The Boccadigabia vineyards lie in the Castellette di Fiastra area, on the first line of hills rising from the Adriatic Sea, covering almost 10 ha. The mild maritime climate creates conditions for growing grapes. The Villamagna brand's Italian varieties are grown in Contrada Montanello, in the Macerata area. Total vineyard holdings across the two estates cover 23 ha.
Vinificazione
Boccadigabia combines traditional practices with modern technology to preserve the distinctive character of its wines, made from both Italian and international grape varieties. The company takes part in a government program that provides funding in the Marche region for winegrowing carried out in harmony with the environment.
