Vineyard and terroir
The Chardonnay vineyard covers approximately one hectare on the Brunella slope in Castiglione Falletto, a short distance from the cellar. The main page places it on the north slope, while the 2024 technical sheet specifies partly western and partly northwestern exposures. The clay soil reaches marl at a depth of 2–3 metres. Vines average 15 years old, are trained to simple Guyot on SO4 rootstock, and are planted at 4,400 vines per hectare.
Grapes
100% Chardonnay.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested manually and selected by cluster on a sorting table. Cryomaceration lasts 24–48 hours. For the 2024 wine, gentle pressing is followed by controlled-temperature fermentation of the must in stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then racked and begins malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
Maturation lasts a few months in tonneaux. Wood exposure is deliberately brief, preserving the balance between freshness and minerality. Bottling takes place in the spring or summer following harvest.
Technical data
The 2024 contains 13% alcohol, less than 0.10 g/L residual sugar, 5.34 g/L total acidity and 23.5 g/L non-reducing extract. Production totalled 1,124 bottles.
Tasting profile
The 2024 is delicate straw yellow with subtle green reflections. Lemon zest, apricot and elderflower shape the bouquet. The palate balances freshness and roundness, with a smooth, velvety texture and lively minerality. The technical description adds yellow peach, harmony, persistence and a clear balance between acidity and body. The broader house profile includes green apple, peach and a delicate vanilla accent from wood maturation.
Vintage notes
A mild spring encouraged even budburst in 2024. Rain around flowering slowed development slightly, while a warm but not extreme summer and regular rainfall prevented water stress. Healthy grapes with fresh aromatics and good acidity were harvested from 2 to 6 September. Alcohol was lower than in recent vintages.
