Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie 30 m above sea level on clay soils mixed with sand and gravel, oriented south to north. The estate stands on fertile land in the province of Treviso, near the Piave River.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in early September. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation or maturation. After stabilisation and microfiltration it is bottled.
Ageing
After bottling, the wine rests in the winery's cellars for 60 days before release.
Label / history
Azienda Agricola Ca'di Rajo (also known as Ca'di Raja) is a family-owned estate in the province of Treviso. In ancient times the word Rajo meant Paradise. The estate includes a church with an image of the Madonna del Carmine and the ruins of a monastery built in 1507. The Cecchetto and Giol families planted vineyards on previously unused land in 1960, and the estate became fully owned by the Cecchetto family in 1972. It is known for sparkling wines from Prosecco grapes and for wines from Raboso, a native Veneto variety; historians say Marco Polo took Raboso wine with him on his journey. The modern winery follows the traditional architectural style of the Piave area, and its cellars, surrounded by vineyards, are used for storing and ageing wines.
