Vineyard and terroir

P#327 was created after years spent observing the Campogiovanni estate’s most promising vineyards. Its grapes are selected from a particularly suitable area where a balanced climate and sandy-loam soil support even ripening. The medium-textured sandy loam contains pebbles and gravel and rests on sandstone and calcareous marl. Vines are trained to spurred cordon.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested during the second and third weeks of September. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at 26–28°C, with 15–20 days of maceration. Malolactic fermentation also occurs in stainless steel.

Ageing

The wine matures for 30 months in 30-hl and 50-hl oak casks, followed by 12 months in bottle.

Technical data

The 2021 has 14.8% alcohol, total acidity of 5.57 g/L and residual sugar of 0.4 g/L. Production was 6,000 bottles, all in 0.75-L format.

Tasting profile

Bright ruby red. Ripe red fruit leads the bouquet, followed by brushwood, balsamic nuances and subtle spice. Smooth, refined tannins shape a persistent palate, while delicate acidity balances its structure. The finish is fresh and mineral. The style combines finesse and structure with power, harmony and gradually unfolding depth.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18°C. Cellaring potential is 20 years.

Vintage notes

The 2021 growing season began with a mild, dry winter and early budbreak at the end of March in the earliest and best-exposed vineyards. Frost during the first nights of April significantly reduced production. Spring rainfall then helped the vines tolerate the long, hot summer. The small harvest yielded fruit of excellent quality.

Label / history

The parcel designation P#327 gives the wine its name. The first vintage presented is 2020.
