Vineyard and terroir

The Sangiovese comes from the Doccio a Matteo vineyard, at an altitude of 450 m, where the soils are rich in underground water.

Grapes

For the 2005 vintage, Sangiovese accounts for 95% of the blend, with small amounts of Colorino and Ancellotta.

Vinification

Produced organically, the wine underwent spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts for about 12 days. It was bottled without filtration.

Ageing

The wine matured for two years in French, American and Hungarian oak barrels.

Tasting profile

Ripe fruit and spice define the nose. The palate has fresh, elegant tannins, integrated acidity and long, nuanced spicy notes. With time, the flavours become deeper and richer, combining traditional Tuscan character with a modern style.
