Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from vineyards in Umbria planted on the soil that gives the Matile line its name. This yellowish terrain contains volcanic material that glints in sunlight. It is very hard but becomes highly friable when broken up, and is rich in potassium and microelements. The red and rosé wines grown here are associated with fruit-forward aromas and flavours over a persistent mineral, undergrowth-like foundation.

A blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Pinot. No proportions are specified.

Label / history
“Matile” derives from the type of soil found in the line’s vineyards. An alternative interpretation connects the name with the Etruscan “Papile,” understood as “able to light up,” an association linked to the way the soil’s volcanic material shines in sunlight.
