Vineyard and terroir
Colorino comes from vineyards in the municipalities of Terricciola, at Casanova, and Casciana Terme. The vineyard area totals approximately 2.02 ha, with south-western and south-eastern exposures at 250 m a.s.l. The vines average 25 years of age. Terricciola has sandy, marine-origin soils rich in oceanic sediments, while Casciana Terme is distinguished by rocky, travertine-rich ground.
Grapes
100% Colorino. Following the Piedmontese tradition of making varietal wines, the Rivetti family chose to vinify Colorino on its own to express the identity of the variety.
Vinification
Maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place in temperature-controlled vats for an average of 14–15 days. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in used, second-passage vessels.
Ageing
The wine ages for 24 months after malolactic fermentation and then spends approximately six months in bottle.
Technical data
Average production is 6,000 bottles. The first vintage was 2005.
