Vineyard and terroir
This Chianti Riserva is made exclusively from Sangiovese grown in a single vineyard in Terricciola, at Casanova. The approximately 2.99 ha site faces south-east and lies at 300 m a.s.l. The vines average 30 years of age. Its sandy, marine-origin soil is rich in oceanic sediments and calcium carbonate.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
Maceration and alcoholic fermentation take place in temperature-controlled vats for an average of 14–15 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs in used, second-passage French oak barrels.
Ageing
The wine matures for a minimum of 12 months in used, second-passage French oak barrels, followed by further refinement in bottle.
Technical data
Average production is 10,000 bottles. The first vintage was 2007.
Tasting profile
The bouquet is floral, with berries, violets and Mediterranean spices. The palate is dry and harmonious, combining savoriness with a velvety texture.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–17 °C in a Bordeaux glass.
