Vineyard and terroir

Torre Alta comes from Sangioveto vines more than 30 years old in the Torre Alta vineyard at Castellina in Chianti. The site lies at 450–510 m above sea level, with an exposure described as ideal and limestone soils. The vines are trained to single-arched-cane Guyot at 3,500 plants per hectare.

Grapes

100% Sangioveto.

Vinification

The grapes are vinified in stainless steel; the tanks are temperature controlled. Malolactic fermentation is carried out.

Ageing

The wine matures for seven months in used French oak barrels of 2.25 and 5 hl, followed by seven months in bottle.

Technical data

The 2024 technical sheet gives a yield of 60 q/ha and a 0.75 L format.

Tasting profile

Ruby red. The nose is fresh and fragrant, combining red fruit, liquorice and currant with a delicate vanilla accent. The palate is round and smooth, with savoury nuances and gentle sweetness. Lively acidity carries the wine into a long, persistent finish.

Serving and pairing

Its structure and versatility suit both everyday cooking and richer preparations. Suggested matches include stews, sauced dishes, first and second courses based on red meat or game, and medium-aged cheeses.

Vintage notes

The 2024 growing season was balanced and favourable. A mild, evenly rainy spring encouraged healthy growth, while a warm but moderate summer and cool nights preserved acidity and aromatic freshness. Harvest extended from late September into early October, with optimal phenolic ripeness; the technical data specify the first half of October as the harvesting period.

Label / history

First produced in 2023, the wine takes its name from the estate’s emblematic tower. The name also expresses an aspiration to rise while remaining rooted in Tuscan territory and tradition.
