Vineyard and terroir
The Trebbiano grows in the municipality of Alanno, in Abruzzo. The vines are more than 30 years old and stand in deep, mineral-rich clay-limestone soil. The soil retains moisture, which reaches the roots enriched with trace elements and gives the wine its distinctive character. The climate is Mediterranean, with cold winters, warm summers and moderate rainfall. Abruzzo faces the Adriatic Sea to the east and is sheltered by the Apennine Mountains to the west. Wide temperature swings between day and night, together with air currents from both sea and mountains, provide ideal conditions for ripening.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in the second half of September. At the winery they are carefully sorted, cold-macerated on the skins for 12 hours and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in 500-litre oak barrels at 18 °C. The wine undergoes partial malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine is aged in wooden barrels for 12 months.
Tasting profile
Juicy and aromatic.
