Vineyard and terroir

The grapes are grown in the Berici Hills (Colli Berici) around Montorso Vicentino and Vicenza. The hills are a series of ancient volcanic formations between Verona and Padua, with sunny hillsides and ancient volcanic soils. The climate is very mild and sunny, much like the Mediterranean. Vines of many varieties have been cultivated here for more than a thousand years.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, to preserve the wine's freshness and light character.

Ageing

Aged in stainless steel tanks. It can be drunk young or kept for 2–3 years.

Tasting profile

Light, uncomplicated and very enjoyable. Refreshing, particularly on a hot day.

Serving and pairing

Goes well with light snacks and food cooked over an open fire.

Label / history

Part of the "Cielo 1908" range of traditional Veneto wines, named after the year the Cielo family founded the winery. Cielo e Terra was founded in 1908; its name combines terra, Italian for earth, with the founders' surname, Cielo. Under Pietro Cielo the company began expanding and improving production in 1930, and new vineyards were established and production increased in 1962. The winery is now led by fourth-generation brothers Luca and Pierpaolo Cielo and owns around 300 ha of land. It belongs to Gruppo Cantine Colli Berici, a group of cellars with around 4 000 ha of vineyards, where most of its wines are made. With the group's winemakers, it takes part in a project to improve every part of wine production and agriculture in the Berici Hills, from vineyard to bottle.
