Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The old, low-yielding vines grow at 330–400 m above sea level on west-facing sites.
Grapes
The blend consists mainly of Dolcetto with a small proportion of Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, with Dolcetto picked in late September and Nebbiolo in early October. The varieties are vinified separately: Dolcetto undergoes maceration for 5–8 days at 25 °C, while Nebbiolo is macerated for 10–12 days at 30 °C.
Ageing
The two varieties are aged separately for different periods. After blending, the wine matures in oak barrels for 12–18 months, according to the vintage and grape variety.
Tasting profile
The old, low-yielding Dolcetto contributes complexity and excellent structure, while Nebbiolo adds fine aromas and elegance.
Label / history
First released in 1969, Bricco del Drago was Piedmont’s first “Super Vino da Tavola.” Its name comes from the vineyard site and means “dragon’s hill.”
