Vineyard and terroir
The organic Syrah grapes are grown in Sicily on a plateau between Marsala and Salemi, at 100–200 metres above sea level. The vines stand in clay soil, which gives the finished wine a complex structure.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September. At the winery they are gently destemmed and cold-macerated, then fermented at a controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation follows.
Ageing
The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for 3 months. After bottling it spends at least another 4 months in the winery's cellars.

Label / history
Vitese is the flagship of Colomba Bianca's organic production, a range of nine wines. The other reds are Nero d'Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon. The whites are Lucido, Zibibbo, Grillo, Chardonnay and Sauvignon, and there is a rosé made from Nerello Mascalese. The range takes its name from the Vitese winery, set in the green countryside of Vita, where tradition and innovation meet in wines from local and international varieties. The label shows a cedar, a tree typical of the area, which represents the wines' place of origin.
The Syrah received silver medals at The Global Masters in 2018 and at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2017.
