Tasting profile
Dense red in colour. The bouquet combines dark fruit and spice with freshly cut herbs, rosemary and cedar. The palate is juicy, balsamic, light and savoury, leading to an herbaceous, fruit-driven finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 14–16°C. Cellaring potential is 1–3 years. Its aromatic, savoury profile suits spiced vegetables, mushrooms, truffles, red meat and game. Suggested dishes range from grilled steak, beef bourguignon and lamb with black olives to porcini soup, wild-boar sausages and roast hare with black truffle.
Label / history
Casa Defrà means Casa dei Fratelli Cielo and takes its name from the family's original farmhouse at the foot of the Colli Vicentini. The family established itself there and planted its first vineyard in 1908; the enterprise now spans four generations.
