Tasting profile
A smooth, velvety and savoury red in which Merlot's rounded character meets saline minerality. Aromas evoke red berries, wildflowers, roses, spices and cinnamon. The palate is full, juicy, soft and rounded, with a fresh, mineral finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 12–14°C. Cellaring potential is 1–3 years. Pair with cured meats, medium-aged cheese, grilled or pan-cooked meats, filled pasta, meat sauces and soups. Its versatility also extends to tuna, swordfish and cod dishes.
Label / history
Casa Defrà means Casa dei Fratelli Cielo and identifies the family's original farmhouse at the foot of the Colli Vicentini. The family planted its first vineyard there in 1908, beginning a winemaking enterprise that now spans four generations.
