Vineyard and terroir
Thybris comes from the Viavalle vineyard, which overlooks Lake Corbara. The vines grow on south- to southwest-facing hillsides at 200 m above sea level in predominantly alluvial soil rich in river pebbles. They are trained to spurred cordon with 6–8 buds, with yields capped at 7,000 kg/ha.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese, harvested from late September to early October.
Vinification
The grapes ferment in stainless-steel vats at 25–28°C. Maceration lasts 15–18 days, with regular manual punch-downs to break the cap of skins.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in French oak casks, followed by 5–6 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Intense ruby red. The nose brings together ripe red fruit, spices, coffee, vanilla, plum, violet, chestnut and tobacco. The palate is round and full, with smooth tannins and a long finish.
Serving and pairing
Pair with salami, grilled meat, juicy roasts or aged cheeses.
Label / history
Thybris developed from the Sangiovese vines overlooking Lake Corbara and an effort to express the area's red-wine identity. Its name pays tribute to the nearby Tiber, a river linked both to local history and to the estate's viticultural choices.
