Vineyard and terroir
The Valgiano cru comes from an approximately 8-hectare plateau planted with vines around 30 years old. Its geological profile was formed through the uplift of the Apennines and the movement of calcareous marl, subsequently covered by acidic sandstone deposited during the pre-glacial era.
Grapes
The composition displayed on the page is internally inconsistent: it gives both 100% Sangiovese and a blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Syrah and 20% Merlot, without connecting either formula to a particular vintage.
Production and formats
Production is approximately 12,500 standard bottles wrapped in very thin tissue paper, together with 360 magnums and 30 double magnums.
Awards
The 2022 received three glasses in Vini d’Italia 2026 and is also associated with Slow Wine, although no score or distinction is shown for the latter. The 2021 received 96 points from Jeb Dunnuck, 91 from James Suckling and 95 from Vinous. Bibenda awarded the 2018 five bunches.
