Label / history
The label presents Damarino as “lively and terrifying.” A vine drawn across and beside a woman’s face symbolizes femininity, while the face and its windblown hair also refer to the Donnafugata story. The name Donnafugata means “woman who fled”: according to legend, Queen Maria Carolina escaped from Naples and took refuge in a palace in a town in the Santa Margherita Belice valley.
The Rallo family had made wine in Sicily for 150 years before establishing Donnafugata as a more modern company.
