Label / history
The Pira family appears in local parish records from the seventeenth century and began making wine under its own name in the late nineteenth century. Gigi Pira worked with fruit from Cannubi, San Lorenzo and Via Nuova, emphasizing the importance of origin. He crushed grapes by foot and avoided technical equipment in the cellar. After Luigi Pira, the family’s last heir, died in 1980, his sisters were unable to continue the business. The Boschis family acquired the company in 1981 and updated its winemaking methods.
