Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from old, organically farmed vines on the slopes of the extinct Monte Vulture volcano in Barile, Basilicata. The volcanic soils contribute distinctive minerality, while the altitude and differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures help retain freshness and build structure and depth. Low yields give concentrated fruit.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand. Only fully ripe bunches are taken to the winery, where the berries are selected on a sorting table. Whole berries undergo maceration in stainless-steel vats for gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in 200-litre French barriques, half of which are new.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in new 500-litre tonneaux, followed by 12 months in bottle before release.
Tasting profile
Powerful, elegant and multi-layered, with rich aromas and a mature, well-structured character. It combines minerality, freshness and grace with depth and concentrated flavour, balancing power and elegance.
Label / history
Production is strictly limited, and the wine is bottled only in the best vintages.
