Vineyard and terroir
MÈRO is produced from selected fruit from the finest and oldest Merlot vines, planted with East/Southwest exposure.
Grapes
100% Merlot.
Vinification
The bunches are harvested by hand and carefully selected. Selection continues through several picking passes made on different days over the course of the harvest. Maceration takes place at 24–28°C. Its extended duration is decided by daily tastings from the tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures for at least 18 months in oak barriques: 80% second-use barrels and 20% new barrels. A long period of bottle ageing follows before release.
Technical data
IGT Toscana. The published vintage is 2019, with 14.5% alcohol. Contains sulphites. Ageing potential exceeds 20 years.
Tasting profile
Deep, concentrated ruby red with dark purple highlights. The nose is elegant and concentrated, combining ripe blackberry, blackcurrant and black plum with fine notes of tobacco and cocoa. Dense, powerful and intense on the palate, with abundant extract and pleasing freshness. The tannins are powerful yet fine and soft, carrying the wine into a long, complex finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 20°C. Pair with substantial main courses, grilled meats, game or long-aged cheeses.
