Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards have east/southwest exposure.
Grapes
The 2021 blend comprises 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 20% Syrah and 20% Sangiovese.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand with careful bunch selection. Each variety is vinified separately in stainless-steel tanks, where spontaneous fermentation takes place under temperature control, never exceeding 28–29°C. Maceration lasts 3–4 weeks. A particular selection is made during blending to create I Montali.
Ageing
The wine remains in French-oak barriques for approximately one year, then matures further in bottle before release.
Technical data
Bolgheri Rosso DOC. The published vintage is 2021, with 14.5% alcohol. Contains sulfites. Ageing capacity exceeds 15 years.
Tasting profile
I Montali combines the freshness of Poggio al Moro with the elegance and structure of Montepergoli. Black-fruit and spice notes lead into a sensual, enveloping palate shaped by elegant, smooth tannins.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18–20°C. Pair with land-based appetizers, pasta with full-flavoured sauces, grilled meats, game or aged cheeses.
