Vineyard and terroir
The south- and east-facing vineyards lie at 230–350 m. Their soils are predominantly sandy and gravelly alluvium, with smaller proportions of clay and silt. The vines are 5–25 years old, trained to Guyot and pergola systems, and yield 80 hl/ha.

Lagrein.
Vinification
Mash fermentation takes place at 28 °C with ten days of maceration, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for six months in stainless-steel tanks.
Technical data
Alcohol: 13% vol. Acidity: 5.3 g/L. Residual sugar: 2.7 g/L. Ageing potential: 4–6 years.
Tasting profile
Dark garnet red. The intense bouquet is fruity and spicy, with leather, dark chocolate and floral violet nuances. The palate is full and mild, with perceptible tannins and a fruity finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–18 °C. Pair with dark meat, roasts and game.
Label / history
Lagrein is described as one of Alto Adige’s three indigenous varieties and as related to Teroldego and Syrah. Its typical expression combines a dark-red colour and berry fruit with spicy, resinous suggestions of chocolate, tobacco and forest floor.
