Storia
Fabio Gea worked as a geologist for several years at various companies before deciding to return to Bricco di Neive, in the heart of Barbaresco. There, he inherited land from his maternal grandfather, Notu. He restored the vineyards on this land and began making wine.
Terroir
The estate is based in Bricco di Neive, in the heart of Barbaresco.
Vinificazione
All vineyard work is done by hand, with very little treatment.
In the cellar, Fabio Gea experiments with amphorae, including porcelain amphorae that he makes himself. He also uses old 440- and 500-liter barrels, as well as glass and stainless steel. Bottles carry handmade paper labels designed to come off easily so they can be reused; some wines carry no label at all, only a small piece of paper hanging by a string from the neck of the bottle. Some wines are bottled in used Travaglini Gattinara bottles that Fabio found in an old warehouse.
Filosofia
The labels on Fabio Gea's wines encourage people not to throw the bottles away but to reuse them; the handmade paper is designed to come off easily so the bottles can be used again. He worries about what he will do once his supply of used Travaglini Gattinara bottles, found in an old warehouse, runs out.
