Vineyard and terroir

Sangiovese and Montepulciano are grown in Ortona and San Salvo on Abruzzo’s Adriatic coast. The vines have a south-east exposure, stand on clay-limestone soil and are trained to pergola.

Grapes

Sangiovese and Montepulciano; the proportions are not specified.

Vinification

The wine undergoes carbonic maceration at 30°C for 10 days at the Roseto winery in Abruzzo. The grapes are then crushed and complete a short, four-day fermentation.

Tasting profile

Bright red with youthful purple reflections. Cherry, wild berries—especially raspberry—and delicate rose notes shape the aromatic profile. The palate is soft, fresh and balanced, with supple tannins.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 14–15°C. Designed for immediate drinking, it pairs with cold cuts, salami, fresh or piquant cheeses, uncomplicated mushroom dishes, light meat in sweet-and-sour sauce, grilled chestnuts, and desserts made with nuts, walnuts or chestnuts.

Vintage notes

Novello is seasonal, released in October and November by reservation; orders are required by mid-August. The technical-sheet bottle photograph depicts the 2022 release.
