Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Tenuta Cantalupo in Notaresco, Abruzzo. Its prime hillside position in the Notaresco valley benefits from a distinctive microclimate shaped by the high peaks of Gran Sasso National Park and the Adriatic coast, together with a favourable soil structure.
Grapes
100% organically grown Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, placed in small baskets and taken to the cellar. They are destemmed, selected twice by hand and gently crushed before a 25-day maceration and fermentation. Malolactic fermentation and maturation follow.
Tasting profile
Garnet red. The intense, persistent and slightly ethereal profile combines fruit with tobacco, jam, liquorice and other spicy notes. Full-bodied, soft and balanced, with sustained flavour and length.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18–20°C. Pair with legumes, mushrooms, flavoursome meats, turkey and barbecue. It can also accompany Asian-style duck, beef or pork hot pots. The wine is ready upon release and can develop for 5–6 years.
Recognition
Gold medals from Mundus Vini and Berliner Wine Trophy in 2023; 95 points from Luca Maroni in 2023; 91 points from James Suckling.
