Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie in the heart of the Colline Teramane DOCG, within the communes of Colonnella, Notaresco and Roseto in Abruzzo. The climate provides pronounced thermal variation, while the medium-textured soils combine limestone and clay.
Grapes
100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and meticulously selected on arrival at the winery. After destemming and crushing, they undergo a 4–6-day cold maceration. Fermentation then continues on the skins for approximately 25 days at 25–28°C in cement vats. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in cement.
Ageing
The wine remains in cement vats for four months after malolactic fermentation, then matures for 12 months in barriques. Following blending, it spends a further six months in 3,000 L barrels.
Tasting profile
Ruby red with garnet highlights. The aroma is intense and persistent, combining abundant fruit with a chocolate note that remains in a supporting role. The palate has good structure and well-defined tannins, with an overall sense of balance.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C. Suitable with cold-cut starters, T-bone steak, gourmet burgers and game, as well as beef Stroganoff with mushrooms or aubergine dishes.
